There are many options available for playground surfaces. Mulch, pea gravel, rubber or even another artificial grass product have all been used for playgrounds. None of those can even compare to the SYNLawn^® Playground System.

Traditional options fall short when it comes to consistent safety protection. Surfaces constructed of mulch, gravel or sand tend to be less safe as time goes by. High foot traffic areas such as those circling the merry-go-rounds, under the swings or at the landing of a slide tend to displace the material exposing the hard ground underneath.

Rubber surface playgrounds do offer more consistent protection. However, these surfaces can create a host of new concerns. In the summer they absorb the heat. In the winter they can become hard and brittle which will compromise the integrity of the protection it offers.

The SYNLawn^® Playground System is the only playground surface that provides consistent safety standards in high traffic areas, in any weather, at any height, and under all types of play equipment. All this plus the look of beautiful green grass.

Installation Options

Not a one-size-fits-all solution

Playground equipment comes in many forms and is used in many types of playgrounds. The SYNLawn^® Playground System is comprehensive, versatile system that allows for ANY type of play equipment. We don’t install one product the same for every piece of equipment.

The height of the equipment determines the highest possible fall from a child playing on the equipment. We then can determine what measures to take when installing the foam padding protection.

The areas of high-use are possible candidates for the TrampleZone replaceable products.

The HIC requirements are necessary for building the right surface to protect against possible head injury to a child.

The rest is up to you. We have the largest selection of synthetic grass products to choose from. Simply select the grass you like best or one suited to your region and we’ll take care of building your perfect playground.

TrampleZone package

The patter of little feet can cause premature wear in places around the playground equipment. Instead of replacing the entire playground surface this upgrade allows you to only replace areas where it needs it the most. Under swings, around the merry-go-round, beneath the see-saw and the base of a slide are common areas for TrampleZones.

Commercial use of the SYNLawn^® Playground System is available with certified ASTM HIC tested products for heights up to 12-feet.

Going Green

SYNLawn^® is green on top, in the middle and even underneath. Beyond the color, SYNLawn^® goes a long way towards better environmental sustainability which makes it truly “green.” We take measurable steps in providing products that have an extended lifespan, reduce your carbon footprint, conserve water, and use renewable and recycled materials in manufacturing.

Thanks to our exclusive EnviroLoc^™ Backing System, SYNLawn’s backing is approximately 60-70% green by weight. The EnviroLoc^™ System is an engineered component system which contributes to environmental sustainability. The first component is the primary backing which helps extend the product life cycle by using 10% less material that is stronger and has superior dimensional stability compared to traditional artificial grasses. Product lifespan is further extended on the face by incorporating nylon 6 in the fibers adding up to 50% longer life. The second component is the secondary backing which incorporates BioCel^™ technology. BioCel uses an environmentally-sensitive polyurethane that replaces a large portion of the petroleum-based polymers with soybean oil (renewable resources) and adds Celceram^™ (recycled product of coal combustion) for further strength and stability.

Green building and LEED^® certification

Using SYNLawn^® helps environmentally conscience builders and specifiers with LEED^® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) project certification. Using SYNLawn^® with EnviroLoc^™can contribute LEED^® points in the areas of Water Efficient Landscaping, Recycled Content, Rapidly Renewable Material and Innovation in Design.
