Reflecting a growing trend in New Mexico and nationwide, the New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) just switched to synthetic grass landscaping – conserving over three million gallons of water per year while saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.
They worked with SYNLawn, the largest artificial grass company in North America, to create 182,000 square feet of beautifully manicured green spaces that eliminates the need for pesticides and fertilizers while reducing maintenance costs. An increasing number of local businesses, institutions and homeowners are switching to artificial grass for the same reasons – and the trend is making a positive impact on our environment.

Shopping for SYNLawn synthetic grass can now be as easy as visiting your local Lowe’s home improvement store. After completing a successful test launch in Las Vegas in early 2007, SYNLawn has expanded to Lowe’s stores in Arizona and New Mexico this past summer. As of today, SYNLawn is now available in over 40 Lowe’s locations in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. In early 2008, SYNLawn will seek to triple the number of participating stores as the expansion continues throughout California. Other states including Colorado and Texas are also planned for the 2008 expansion into Lowe’s bringing the number of participating stores to over 300.

It’s stressful enough to have a family member that requires specific medical attention, but when the required facility is miles away from your home, the expenses can be overwhelming. That’s where the Ronald McDonald House Charities come in.
The Ronald McDonald House program began in 1974 and has since become Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The three core programs of RMHC - the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile - are all focused on helping families in need.
Since 1982, the New Mexico Ronald McDonald House in Albuquerque has provided an affordable “home away from home” for families with ill or injured children being cared for at nearby Albuquerque medical facilities. Enter Dale Mochko and the Janet Vargas Memorial Children’s Cancer Fund (JVMF).
