Texas couple to be featured on HGTV with a new SYNLawn® yard and home makeover
August 16th, 2011

Killeen, TX — It’s no wonder Ryan and Krystal Lott are such big fans of Ellen DeGeneres. The couple, from Killeen, Texas, were trying to get tickets to attend a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show prior to Ryan’s deployment to Afghanistan. Ryan is a sergeant with the 615th Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division in the United States Army. Little did the couple realize they were in for a big home makeover surprise.

Much to their dismay, the show was sold out, but two weeks prior to the taping they received word that they would receive tickets. During a commercial break while taping, Ellen brought the couple down to the stage and asked if they would like to take a photo with her. While on stage, they returned from commercial break and Ellen asked if they would like to sit down with her.

It was then that she revealed the surprise. Crews were already onsite at the Lott house preparing to do a $100,000 home makeover for HGTV’s new show HGTV’d.

“It was crazy,” said Krystal. “After that, it was all a blur.”

Ryan has been deployed to Iraq three times and met Krystal, who also served in the Army, during one of his deployments. He is currently deployed in Afghanistan, while Krystal manages their home and raises their two children.

“I’ve had a struggle trying to manage everything when he was gone,” Krystal said. “Everyone knows how hard I tried to maintain my home.”

As part of the home makeover project, the couple received a new synthetic grass lawn from SYNLawn. This was a welcome addition, especially to Krystal.

“I’m really excited for my yard,” Krystal said. “I couldn’t get it to go grow to save my life.”

SYNLawn is the leader in the synthetic grass industry. The SYNLawn brand product line includes over 25 different varieties of artificial grass styles for commercial and residential applications including landscaping, pet areas, play areas, and uncommon areas such as rooftops and patio decks.

Best of all, SYNLawn products are the most environmentally friendly on the market. SYNLawn turf products save millions of gallons of water each year, keep fertilizers and pesticides away from pets and out of the ground water supply, and reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption from lawn equipment.

SYNLawn products have replaced petroleum-based polyurethane with soybean oils in the manufacturing process, utilize secondary backing materials made from recycled plastic bottles, and are recyclable.

For the installation, installers used SYNFescue Platinum 351 artificial grass. Like our other varieties of SYNFescue artificial grasses, SYNFescue Platinum 351 is manufactured using horseshoe shaped yarn blades providing superior resiliency, low surface temperatures, and the best performance in a durable artificial landscape grass product. Soft to the touch, SYNFescue Platinum 351 uses tan thatch to make it one of the most natural looking artificial turf products on the market today complete with a manufacturer based 10-year warranty.

The home makeover installation took a day-and-a-half and was coordinated and overseen by Strickly Green Grass, a Houston based authorized SYNLawn dealer.

“This is a very deserving family and a very worthwhile project,” according to Nicole Ray of Strickly Green Grass. “We are committed to providing the best product and the best customer experience. We hope the Lott’s will enjoy their yard for years to come.”

HGTV’d is hosted by Tanika Ray and they episode featuring the Lott family and their new SYNLawn yard will air on Monday, August 22, at 10:00 p.m. EST.
