Kansas City School Gets Vibrant Playground Upgrade with Colored Artificial Turf

Blue Springs, MO — SYNLawn Kansas City and owner Angela Grego were recently honored with SYNLawn’s Recreational Project of the Year Award for their vibrant playground upgrade at Liggett Trails Early Education Center. The Blue Springs School District project managers selected Grego and her team due to a decade-long relationship installing impressive playgrounds district-wide.

Located in Blue Springs, Missouri, Liggett Trails Early Education Center’s vision is to promote student achievement through innovative services. The school has adopted many values to achieve this vision: respect, collaboration, and encouragement. The district wanted to re-design the existing playground using bold, vibrant colors, different play objects, and a fun, engaging design to cater to students attending the early education center.

Grego and her team have worked with the Blue Springs School District for 10+ years designing and installing different playgrounds. When Liggett Trails Early Education Center decided to upgrade its outdoor recreational space, they reached out to SYNLawn Kansas City first due to their relationship and pristine reputation.

Creating a Unique Playground Upgrade with Colored Artificial Turf

The goal of project developers was to create a unique design that stimulated as many of the student’s senses as possible with dynamic colors and small play objects, such as turtles, logs, hand-cut splash designs, and a blue colored artificial turf river. Liggett Trails selected SYNLawn to create the ADA compliant playground fit for wheelchairs and small and large play structures for kids of different ages who attend the school. Grego and her team used approximately 8,000 square feet of SYNTipede 343 for the primary grass portion of the play area, 4,000 square feet of Classic Pitch for the high foot traffic areas, and 4,500 square feet of colored artificial turf, SYNPlay 60 in Navy Blue, to complete the design elements throughout the playground.

The small play objects, like stepping stumps, lily pads, and lazy river, allow students to touch and feel the synthetic surfacing. The vibrant colored artificial turf gives each student a stimulating environment to play in safely. Students and staff are thrilled with the final installation, and those who attend the early education center now have a safe, durable, and vibrant playground to spend time at for years to come.
