Des Moines, IA — Dog lovers in Central Iowa have a fun and unique destination called Paws & Pints that provides Iowans with a social haven where they can socialize with fellow dog aficionados and their four-legged companions. SYNLawn Iowa was hired to help design and install over 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dog parks using the highest quality pet turf on the market to enhance Paws & Pints’ guest amenities.
Building a Dog Park Oasis with Premium Turf
Paws & Pints is the first-of-its-kind venue in Iowa that offers people and their pets a place to socialize, play, eat and drink. The owners of Paws & Pints wanted to create a one-of-a-kind dog park experience designed for optimal enjoyment for dogs and their humans.
SYNLawn Iowa offers premium artificial turf made specifically for pet-friendly spaces. To create the social and play areas, the team installed 19,702 square feet of SYNLawn’s Pet Platinum, which is designed to stay green and pristine while accommodating dogs of all sizes. Pet Platinum has maximum drainage built-in for easy cleanup and sanitization with no risk of dogs getting messy from mud or dirt, which makes it the ideal turf. Another benefit is that it’s made with Super Yarn™ technology that contains an additive called Sanitized, which eliminates bacterial odors and prevents microbial growth to provide enhanced hygiene protection.
SYNLawn Iowa also installed 546 square feet of SYNPro 60, which offers a luxurious feeling and realistic looking synthetic surfacing; Envirofill 12-20 for additional antimicrobial protection; 1,450 linear feet of nailer board to secure the turf; and 5,600 square feet of VersaCourt court tile system.
Adding Amenities for Pet Activities and Agility Training
The SYNLawn team also created mounds of turf in the park spaces for people to use for agility training with their pups.
In addition to the dog activity areas installed by the SYNLawn Iowa team, amenities for human guests include indoor and outdoor entertainment (i.e., games, TVs, live music), multiple bars, a walking trail, a snack kitchen catering to people and their pups and plenty of comfortable seating to watch dogs while they play.
The SYNLawn Iowa team loves dogs, so this project was close to their hearts. They worked hard in a short amount of time to bring Paws & Pints’ vision to life and create a safe, clean and fun environment.
