Fort Mill, SC — Fort Mill School District is home to 11 schools and over 16,000 students. The vision of this district is to inspire and educate children using “ingenuity and imagination to challenge and inspire students to exceed their greatest dreams and create a better community.”
Fort Mill decided to expand its wellness initiatives to promote outdoor socialization and play as part of its educational process to achieve the district’s mission. The school invested in 130,000 square feet of SYNLawn child-safe artificial grass to complete 22 installations over each of the 11 different schools to enhance the outdoor areas to complete this initiative.
Building Child-Safe Playground Installations with SYNLawn
The 22 unique child-safe playground installations used a combination of SYNTipede 243 and 8 SYNPour Poured-In-Place conversions to complete the projects. The head of the school district’s construction committee selected Scott & Trevor Marks of Southeast Turf (aka SYNLawn Carolinas) to complete the largescale project with the help of the local Parent Teacher Organization’s fundraising efforts. The team from Southeast Turf stood out among the competition due to its credibility and bandwidth to complete multiple installations districtwide.
Fort Mill School District PTO also played a considerable role in helping to complete the installations. The organization raised all the funds for each facility’s upgrade. As more funds came in, installers were able to add to the square footage of each project, making this install even larger than planned. Southeast Turf never missed a beat and exceeded the district’s expectations with the new and improved playgrounds.
SYNLawn is a Natural Choice for Clean, Safe Playgrounds
Fort Mill School District is passionate about investing in its students, so the addition of SYNLawn synthetic turf was a natural choice when building these clean, safe, and sustainable new playgrounds. Teachers operate under strict deadlines and appreciate the artificial turf as it has been proven to reduce injury, allows more playtime, and ensures no muddy surfaces.
The school is increasingly valuing health and wellness in its programming, which includes spending more time outdoors. The new playgrounds allow students to spend even more time socializing, playing, and bonding safely outside. Southeast Turf brought this largescale project to life, giving the students, faculty, and staff of Fort Mill School District an outdoor oasis to enjoy for years to come.
