Murfreesboro, TN — Just south of Nashville lives the growing congregation of New Vision Baptist Church. As the church has grown, so has its passion for addressing the needs of the local community. New Vision Church stretches across two campuses, Battlefield and Buchanan. Since the Battlefield location has a large campus, it has quickly become a central hub for hosting weddings, family movie nights, and other events for church attendees and locals.
The Covid-19 pandemic has created a unique challenge for New Vision Church, leaving them to seek a new space for outdoor sermons and socialization in a hotspot for the virus. The pastoral vision for the church is to bring the community together and foster relationships. The new outdoor space allows for the church to fulfill that vision.
Constructing a Large Outdoor Space with SYNLawn
Tyler Burnett, the owner of GOAT Turf (aka SYNLawn Tennessee), met the church’s needs by constructing a 10,000 square foot outdoor courtyard. The building committee wanted the new outdoor space to have the same modern feel as the church has inside. Burnett and the Goat Turf team were able to capture that with this large installation.
The outdoor space uses SYNLawn’s most popular style of artificial grass, SYNAugustine X47, which comes complete with a free-draining base that will allow water to shed at over 700 inches per yd². The building committee selected the product due to its natural look, feel, and ability to withstand extremely high foot traffic. SYNAugustine X47 also contains SYNLawn’s exclusive Super Yarn™ technology, binding three features into one extruded grass yarn formula. Bound at the molecular level, Super Yarn combines sanitization, reflective, and antistatic technologies. These qualities stood out to the building committee when selecting their turf option.
Building Relationships and Connecting People
The upgraded outdoor space at New Vision Church serves a deeper purpose. The church has a mission to build relationships and connect with others. This outdoor space now gives church attendees and the community a space to host large gatherings, events, weddings, and more.
The outdoor common area extends the vision and scope of the pastoral staff at New Vision Church. Attendees of the church and the outside community now have a clean, safe, outdoor space to enjoy for years to come.
