SYNLawn’s Fire-Resistant Turf System Used for Denver International Airport’s Pop-Up Park Installation

Denver, CO — Travel has gotten a little more pleasant for those passing through Denver International Airport (DEN) this summer. Summer@DEN’s annual summer Pop-Up Park installation is in full swing, running from May 24 through September 2, 2019. While at DEN, travelers can head to DEN plaza to relax and attend community events on over 11,000 square feet of premium fire-resistant turf by SYNLawn artificial turf from local supplier SYNScapes of Colorado.

Native Plants and Fun Lawn Games

First held in 2018, the Pop-Up Park at DEN is a relaxing summer lawn space designed with the mental and physical well-being of travelers in mind. Not only is the plaza a relaxing place to wait during any time of the day, but there are also diverse events held throughout the week to engage guests and visitors. The Wednesday Wellness series includes yoga classes and tai chi demonstrations. Fly Away Fridays feature cultural events involving local musicians and the Denver Zoo. Even the Denver area’s square-dancing society holds meetings on the DEN plaza lawn to make use of the smooth and soft artificial turf surface.

Travelers and guests can also enjoy lawn games, like croquet and bocce ball, to make the most of their time before a flight. The SYNLawn turf styles selected for this project, SYNAugustine X47, and SYNLawn Classic Pitch, are also animal-friendly and tough enough to withstand the most active pets. The plaza lawn is serving as the host for multiple dog agility events this summer as well.

Rapid Installation to Exacting Requirements

SYNScapes of Colorado managed to handle the installation of the entire 11,000 square feet of artificial turf in just five days. The team completed the project within a tight time frame, ensuring the installation conformed with both ADA requirements for accessibility and fire resistance requirements. With reinforced edging to create a seamless transition for people using mobility devices, the installation achieved all of these goals. The E108 Champion UltraBase Panel offered the fire resistance required by local code to ensure even the temporary installation was completely approved and permitted by the fire authority.

SYNLawn is proud of their Colorado associates for succeeding two years in a row on the Summer@DEN plaza installations. If you’re interested in exploring how artificial turf could improve your commercial or public project, contact your nearest SYNLawn dealer.
