SYNLawn New Mexico Wins AGC 2017 Best Buildings Award
AGC New Mexico, a national award-winning chapter for building New Mexico projects and careers, handed out more than 20 awards at its Best Buildings Awards Ceremony on March 29, 2017. SYNLawn New Mexico, which has been in business since 2004, was one of those acknowledged as a Best Buildings Winner for hitting a home run with its baseball field installation at the New Mexico Military Institute.
In order to be considered for the award, a number of criteria had to be met. Some included SYNLawn New Mexico’s innovation in construction materials or techniques, sensitivity to the environment and surroundings, and state-of-the-art advancement.
“Our SYNLawn installation crew did a great job working with the baseball coaching staff to create a customized baseball field,” said Mark Presentato, owner of SYNLawn New Mexico. “It was a group effort, and we are proud to accept this award for the SYNLawn team,” he added.
The prestigious private school is located in Roswell, N.M., which is approximately 200 miles from the distributor’s Albuquerque, N.M., showroom. In March of 2016, SYNLawn New Mexico installed more than 45,000 square feet of SYNLawn 102 artificial grass in green, white and coral colors. “This type of installation takes extreme attention to detail. Seaming in all of the white lines and colored areas is very challenging to say the least,” said Presentato.
The project took six weeks to complete. But, before they could install the synthetic turf, the hard-working crew installed more than 1,700 tons of base material, 600 linear feet of field drainage piping and 750 linear feet of composite nailer board.
In addition to the artificial grass, which mimics a professional-looking natural grass, SYNLawn New Mexico added a custom logo to add class to this stunning baseball field installation. They also installed batting cages and a bullpen in order to provide the necessary practice areas for the players. According to Presentato, the unique project has been a huge success, and the clients are extremely happy with the baseball field.
