SYNLawn Artificial Grass Transforms Historic Sugar House Condo Lofts Rooftop Patio into a Green Oasis
Jersey City, NJ — Built during the Civil War to warehouse sugar, the historic Sugar House is now a luxurious loft-style condo building at the mouth of the Hudson River. This one-time warehouse has become a highly desirable location featuring breathtaking views of the lower Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, and Liberty State Park. During recent renovations to improve the building’s 1,900 square foot rooftop patio, property board members selected SYNLawn’s SYNAugustine X47 and Class A Fire-Rated SYNRye 200 artificial grass for the impressive transformation.
A Referral From a Satisfied Customer
Aiding in the selection of SYNLawn artificial grass for the project, Dr. Eric Leventhal, a resident, and board member referred SYNthetic Lawns Golf (aka SYNLawn New Jersey). Dr. Leventhal is the owner of the penthouse apartment in the historic Sugar House building and decided in 2012 to add a synthetic lawn area to his private rooftop patio. Having been so impressed by the beauty and performance of his SYNLawn patio grass, the Doctor recommended the same during building improvement discussions.
A Safe, Shared Common Space
The patio area at the historic Sugar House is a shared common space for residents of all ages and mobility levels. Keeping safety in mind, the SYNLawn New Jersey installation crew added SYNLawn Reducers; ADA approved edging for easy access for everyone. A glue-down method made installation fast and ensures that the turf won’t lift in even the highest winds or during periods of heavy use. Complimenting the patio’s artificial grass is a concrete paver area perfect for outdoor grilling and games.
Going Above and Beyond for their Customers
The SYNLawn New Jersey team was chosen for this project specifically because they go above and beyond working with customers to create amazing installations. Dr. Leventhal kept the contact information for team member Paula Korinko for over six years, just in case a situation would arise that required their services. Unlike other artificial grass installers, the SYNLawn group offered advanced rendering options to help community members visualize the design options. Seeing the lawn area come alive in full color helped the resident board members agree on the size, layout, and details of the project.
