Lakeshore Sports & Fitness Club Enhances Member Benefits with Rooftop Playground
Chicago, IL — Located in the picturesque Lincoln Park neighborhood, Lakeshore Sports and Fitness Club offers its members more than 185,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for a variety of wellness amenities, state-of-the-art equipment, and extensive programming for the entire family. One of the most inviting areas of the facility is the facility’s rooftop with a panoramic view of Chicago’s iconic skyline. The owner is committed to fostering a welcoming and family-oriented environment with diverse recreational areas for its members, which is why SYNLawn Chicago was hired to build a safe and engaging playground with a designated family lounge space on the rooftop for members’ children.
Creating an Innovative Playground with Synthetic Turf
SYNLawn Chicago has vast experience transforming rooftops across the city with premium synthetic turf. For this innovative project, the team installed 5,600 Play Premium to create a safe and fun space for the children of its club members. This synthetic surfacing offers a safer play environment that reduces the impact of falls and injury since it absorbs the shock better than natural grass. Additionally, this ultra-durable surfacing has built-in Super Yarn™ Technology that offers heat reflective, anti-static, Sanitized® and non-abrasive grass blades.
In addition to the playground installation, SYNLawn Chicago collaborated with Chicago Roof Deck and Garden to design and build a relaxing lounge area to further elevate the experience for club members. SYNLawn Chicago used approximately 7,800 square feet of SYNRye 200. This sustainable turf product is made with SYNLawn’s exclusive plant-based EnviroLoc+™ Backing System, which extends the life cycle of the turf. It’s also one of the safest choices for a commercial building due to its ASTM E108 Class A Fire Rating.
In addition to the sustainability and safety benefits of these synthetic turf products, both installations will also help reduce maintenance time and costs since artificial grass does not require watering and minimal upkeep is required to keep the rooftop spaces looking beautiful and green year-round. Even snow removal during the long Chicago winter season will be easier.
