SYNLawn artificial grass selected for “The Village on Sage Street,” an affordable dorm-style living community in Reno, Nevada.
Reno, Nevada — Dedicated to helping communities worldwide prosper, SYNLawn artificial grass is excited to be involved in “The Village on Sage Street,” affordable living community. In a collaborative effort between SYNLawn of Northern Nevada, the City of Reno, Community Foundation of Western Nevada, and Volunteers of America Northern CA & Northern NV, a new dorm-style living community was created to help struggling, working-class individuals.
Through the hard work and partnership of the organizations working together, Reno now has 200 new housing units to help residents build themselves up. “The Village on Sage Street will provide housing for those priced out of the rental market,” said Chris Askin, President, and CEO of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. “We are grateful for the City of Reno, Volunteers of America, and numerous donors, companies, and volunteers who made the Village on Sage Street a reality. A beautiful lawn is a hallmark of a well-kept home. SYNLawn’s quality artificial grass will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.”
The project began in 2018, and some residents have already moved in, but the grand opening on August 20, 2019, will mark the official opening of this valuable new housing opportunity. The dorm-style living community is open for working adults and seniors on fixed incomes priced out of other rental units. Individuals who meet the income requirements can stay as long as they need while paying an affordable $400 a month.

4,500 square feet of SYNLawn’s USDA Certified, Bio-based SYNAugustine 547 was selected for the community’s exterior landscaping. SYNLawn of Northern Nevada handled the logistics and installation of the environmentally-friendly artificial grass. The low-carbon footprint and sustainable properties of the turf were among the many decisive factors considered when choosing SYNLawn for the project.
SYNLawn’s high-quality synthetic grass was an ideal choice for the Village project, creating a beautiful space for outdoor recreation while keeping maintenance costs low. Gorelick worked with SYNLawn of Northern Nevada on other commercial projects, so she knew who to call when it came time to choose a landscaping solution for the community. With the outstanding cooperation and support from all parties involved, the turf installation went in smoothly in only three days.
