Kansas Family Transforms Rocky Terrain into a Dream Backyard
Leawood, KS — Spending more time at home is a situation all are facing these days. Many families are looking to enhance their unused spaces by transforming them into fun entertainment areas to alleviate idle minds. Thus was the case for the Patel’s of Leawood. The Solution? An artificial grass installation created the perfect SAFE play area for the Patel children, friends, and family dog.
Transforming a Backyard into an Oasis Destination
Mr. Patel’s goal was to transform his backyard filled with jagged rocks into a destination spot for his children and friends to live and play. Led by owner Angela Grego and the team from SYNLawn Kansas City, worked closely with the Patel’s and landscape designer Bonnie Johnson to bring the family’s vision of a backyard oasis to life with the installation of the highest quality artificial grass on the market. The makeover of the backyard included adding a luxury pool, zipline, basketball court, trampoline, putting green and fully functional climate-controlled treehouse.
Johnson had worked with SYNLawn Kansas City on past residential projects, so they were the top choice to help the Patel family create an intricately designed yard built for numerous outdoor activities the whole family could enjoy. With golf practice a high priority on the wish list, the Kansas City Crew was the logical choice for just such an installation.
The Dream Backyard required several artificial grass varieties to complete the realistic look and feel the project required. SYNTipede 243 (ST243) was the primary turf product used, with over 1,200 square feet covering most of the landscaping surface. ST243 is an excellent choice for high-foot traffic activity zones and play areas with a low pile height and superior durability. The SYNTipede product also utilizes SYNLawn’s exclusive Super Yarn™ and EnviroLoc™ Technologies, which provide the cleanest, greenest, safest turf for kids, families, and pets.
The custom putting green uses SYNLawn Classic Pitch golf surfacing turf, which features a beautiful aesthetic, lasting durability, and realistic ball roll throughout the 300+ square foot green. SYNLawn’s putting green turf is widely used for Commercial playground applications in high-traffic areas such as the bottom of busy slides we call “TrampleZones™.” Additionally, the trampoline area also used SYNLawn’s best putting green turf for this high activity zone.
Overcoming Rocky Obstacles to bring a Dream Backyard to Life
The two-year project faced installation challenges related to the location of the property. From the top of the driveway to the backyard where the project was installed, the SYNLawn Kansas City team faced a 60-yard obstacle course over rocky terrain, including multiple trips across a rock river with their equipment and navigating through a heavily wooded area. It took hard work and patience, but the team was ultimately able to complete the project and bring the Patel family’s dream backyard to life. Thanks to SYNLawn’s products’ durability, the Patel family will be able to enjoy their yard for many years to come with little maintenance, making it priceless.
