SYNLawn NY Donates Backyard Makeover on The Drew Barrymore Show
Brooklyn, NY – As part of a giveaway on the nationally syndicated “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Anastasia Phillips and the SYNLawn New York team donated a surprise backyard makeover for the Copening’s, a family of essential workers from Brooklyn, New York. This special segment aired on CBS Television Network during the premiere episode of the show and was watched by thousands of viewers across the country.
Collaborating with The Drew Barrymore Show
SYNLawn New York’s collaboration with “The Drew Barrymore Show” resulted from a website query from Drew Barrymore who was looking for a safer turf for her backyard. Drew was drawn to SYNLawn New York since it’s a New York City-based, female-owned company. Drew was looking for a new type of synthetic turf for her backyard since she thought her current one was not safe for her children since it would overheat. Based on her satisfaction with SYNLawn New York, Drew decided to collaborate with the team on a special segment on her inaugural show to help a deserving family. Drew wanted to surprise a family of essential workers with a backyard makeover to thank them for their service during the pandemic. The five members of the Copening family include a 22-year employee of the United States Postal Service, two Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) drivers, a teacher, and a nursing home caretaker.
Overcoming Installation Challenges to Create Dream Backyard
Since this televised renovation project was a surprise, the SYNLawn New York team had the challenge of overcoming installation challenges to complete the entire renovation in only 2 hours while keeping it a surprise from the entire Copening family until the reveal later that afternoon.
The project took place during the height of New York’s Covid-19 pandemic, so all installers had to meet with a remote nurse via FaceTime beforehand, took and recorded their temperatures, and wore masks during the rush to complete the project. The team also assisted the show’s production team in setting up the backyard furniture and other accessories. Before installing the synthetic turf, the team also had to remove the existing area. It was an exercise in team building, but SYNLawn New York successfully pulled it off due to their skills.
The team used SYNAugustine X47, which offers unmatched softness and durability, with Ultrabase Panels for proper drainage to create a dream backyard for the well-deserving Copening family to enjoy their free time together as a family.
