Colorado Springs Early Colleges Install Premium SYNLawn Turf
Colorado Springs Early Colleges Install Over 9,000 Square Feet of Premium SYNLawn Turf
Colorado Springs, CO — As the organizers of some of the best charter schools in the state, the Colorado Early Colleges (CEC) system is constantly looking for new ways to improve their campus experiences. The Colorado Springs location recently installed 9,000 square feet of SYNLawn to complete a new courtyard project based around improving student mental and physical health. By including a large section of durable and low-maintenance artificial grass from SYNLawn, this charter school is encouraging their hard-working student body to take some time to get outside, move around, and release some stress.
Improving Drainage and Creating New and Useful Outdoor Space
CEC Colorado Springs is a small and focused high school that supports each student individually in achieving their educational and career goals. By easing high school students into real college coursework in a supportive environment, many students are far ahead of their peers by the time they graduate. Building a new courtyard and improving drainage around the campus parking lot were two of the many ways the school enriched its environment in 2019. SYNLawn’s Augustine X47 turf was the ideal choice for the project due to its combination of durability and softness for comfort. By combining new drainage surfaces and a durable turf layer, the installation created new space for both student recreation and outdoor learning opportunities. Envirofill infill was chosen due to its anti-microbial properties and its ability to provide consistent, safe playing environments for years to come.
Artificial Turf That’s Green in Many Ways
The Russell Mills landscape architecture firm worked closely with SYNLawn Colorado on the proper installation details to achieve a seamless installation process after the designs were complete. The project wrapped up in September 2019 so students returning for that year’s school year could enjoy the new courtyard area. SYNLawn’s artificial turf was a great choice since it requires none of the fertilizer, mowing, weeding, or watering needed for live grass. Heavy traffic during school events or back-to-back lunch periods won’t cause the grass to lose its luster or break apart. With a soy-based formula that replaces up to 60% of the petroleum products commonly used for turf backing, SYNLawn offers a surprisingly green product.
