Texas High School Elevates Image with Inlaid Grass Logos and Multi-Use Rec Areas
Little Elm, TX — They say everything is bigger in Texas and that’s true for Ray Braswell High School, which sits on a sprawling 108-acre property in the rapidly growing Denton Independent School District. The comprehensive high school is home to more than 2,500 students and enrollment is expected to continue to increase. The main building campus was designed by VLK Architects and built by Balfour Beatty Construction. The team from SYNLawn Texas was selected to elevate the school’s aesthetics with the installation of premium artificial grass to create two custom recreation areas with custom hash marks and an inlaid grass logo.
Upgrading Recreation Spaces with Inlaid Grass Logos
SYNLawn Texas has extensive experience upgrading schools in the region with innovative installations featuring custom inlaid grass logos using the safest and cleanest synthetic turf on the market. SYNLawn Texas was recommended for this project by VLK Architects after they had worked closely together on a successful project for Frisco ISD. For this new school project, they collaborated on designing two outdoor recreation spaces for Ray Braswell High School, which were installed in two phases and covered an area of 21,100 square feet.
The first phase was the installation of SYNTipede 321 and SYNPlay 48 to create the multi-use campus quad that prominently features the school’s beloved Bengal mascot and the school’s name. Both of these products are safe and sustainable faux grass products. SYNTipede 321 is highly rated for its superior strength and toughness, so it’s ideal for a high foot traffic area like a student quad. It also has the look and feel of real grass, which makes it a popular choice to maintain landscaping aesthetics. Plus, it’s an eco-friendly choice since it’s a USDA Certified Biobased turf made with Super Yarn™ technology that offers heat reflective, anti-static, Sanitized® and non-abrasive grass blades. SYNPlay 48 provided the colorful design of the school’s inlaid grass logos and name in the center of the installation. It will keep students safe since the low-pile, low-friction grass blades the turf is constructed of, combined with the Brock PowerBase/Play™ shock pads, will help reduce joint fatigue and lessen the risk of common injuries as well as the impact of falls. SYNPlay 48 also provides a more accessible environment for people in wheelchairs or those with other mobility issues.
The second phase was the installation of SYNSport in both green and white to build a mini football field for children to play on while attending the high school’s football games. SYNSport is valued for its unmatched resiliency and support and is one of the safest products due to its ASTM E108 Class A Fire Rating. To complete the installation, SYNLawn Texas also added Brock shock pads to enhance the safety of the surfacing further.
The school district will even save money on maintenance and conserve precious water as a result of these installations. The UV-stabilized yarns resist fading from the sun to last for years to come. They also won’t have to worry about using harmful pesticides to keep it bug-free. Synthetic grass is also a greener choice since it does not require watering to keep it looking green and beautiful.
SYNLawn Texas invested time and energy on this important project, which showed in the completed installations. The team is proud of their hard work providing students, staff and visitors with both of the unique and visually appealing outdoor spaces for the school and community to take advantage of.
