Baltimore, MD — Thanks to the vision and determination of SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay, residents of Greenleigh, a 1,000 acre mixed-use community in Baltimore, Maryland can now enjoy a functional urban community dog park complete with unique and innovative mounds. SYNLawn worked with local contractors to develop Greenleigh at Crossroads Dog Park, a unique community gathering area that residents and their pets will enjoy for years to come. Despite several installation challenges due to the landscaping of the park, SYNLawn was ultimately able to overcome these challenges, successfully installing their pet-friendly synthetic turf product to create a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing area for park visitors and their furry friends.

Transforming a Challenging Landscape with Large Mounds

The planning and logistics of the project were very challenging, as the Chesapeake Bay team was faced with a landscape design that included several large mounds that had to be worked into the overall park design.

The designers from Ryan Homes hoped to include tunnels made of plastic pipe embedded within each mound that pets would be able to utilize. This required synthetic pet turf product to be installed over several of the large mounds, as well as around the tunnels, making it an even more challenging project. The team had to structurally plan how to have the mounds form properly with the inclusion of plastic pipes forming the tunnel. Working around the schedules of other contractors also made the installation difficult.

SYNTipede 243 was utilized for the entirety of the park, providing the ultimate strength and resiliency that can handle heavy foot traffic from urban community residents and typical wear and tear from pets. This turf delivers several quality features, including delustered and UV stabilized yarn with long-lasting life expectancy, making it the perfect fit for the more than 2,400 square-foot pet park.
