SYNLawn Scores Home Run with Washington Nationals Beer Garden
Washington, DC — SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay, the certified SYNLawn distributor, and installer for Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia, recently completed a community project at Nationals Park, the home ballpark for the Washington Nationals located in Southeast Washington, D.C. The Washington Nationals hired the SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay team to enhance the atmosphere of the baseball stadium’s beer garden, a well-known and popular spot for Nationals fans to gather during game days, by installing synthetic turf. The result of SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay’s efforts is a beautiful new beer garden perfect for families and friends hoping to find a spot in the stadium to eat, drink, relax and enjoy socializing during game days.
Turf Makeover Transforms Beer Garden
SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay’s turf makeover helped transform the outdated beer garden and made it a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing social area for Nationals fans.
Because of the outstanding quality of work SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay is known for, the Nationals staff has worked with the SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay on three different projects, including this, the latest commercial installation.

The team used SYNAugustine 547, a USDA Certified BioBased product, to create durable turf areas in the beer garden that would withstand foot traffic from fans. SYNAugustine 547 is a bio-based product that is made with Super Yarn™ technology and renewable sugarcane. The sustainable and environmentally friendly turf blends olive and green apple grass blades to create synthetic turf with the same look and feel as real grass.
Not only do the Nationals now have a sweet beer garden that will stay looking green and perfect year-round, having artificial turf will also benefit them financially since there will be little to no lawn maintenance and no need for a sprinkler system for the beer garden area.
Overcoming Installation Challenges
While it was a fun project, the team did have to overcome installation challenges since they had to work to navigate the landscape of the ballpark. Access to Nationals Park was very limited, and the team had to work against the clock on a strict schedule to accommodate the Nationals’ opening night game against the NL East Division Champion Atlanta Braves.
The project was also put on hold amid the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupting the SYNLawn team’s overall timeline for the project. Ultimately, SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay was able to successfully complete the installation to the specifications of the Nationals organization and created an area that Nationals fans will enjoy for years to come.
